CESF Code of Ethics

General conditions for membership of the CESF

1. The CESF is supported by  ETEK and KTMMOB which will play a mediation, facilitation and coordination role when required by members.

2. Except for representatives of member NGOs, other members participate in meetings in their personal capacity only - members will on no occasion refer to their affiliation to decision-making bodies in either community during CESF meetings, or when making public announcements relating to the CESF – such affiliations, as well as political affiliations, should in no way be cited in relation to the CESF.

3. If  representing the CESF at any event, locally or abroad, the members will introduce themselves only as representatives of the CESF, no matter what other affiliations they may have outside the CESF.

4. At this stage, only NGOs can join the CESF as organizations.  Others will be offered individual membership, not organizational membership.

5. Any information or documents exchanged during these meetings is for information of the other members only. This information can only be circulated to third persons upon the assent of the group. No sensitive documents will be shared during CESF meetings without the relevant permissions being obtained.

6. CESF events and meetings will be minuted, but the minutes will be circulated only to CESF members

7. The meetings of the steering committee take place on a monthly basis, and ordinary members do not normally take part in those meetings. However, all members will be conveyed to the bi-annual plenaries of the CESF, as well as to other thematic workshops and activities.

8. No public announcements will be made by group members about the activities of the CESF unless that announcement represents a common position of the group.

9. The attendance of the member(s) of the group to international events is strongly encouraged and may be subsidised if funds become available.

10. The CESF has no executive function. Its role is to network and share environmental information and recommendations locally and abroad.

11. When speaking on the behalf of the CESF, members are expected to avoid statements which might cause offence to either community, or bring the CESF into disrepute.

12. Members have access to the entire website of the CESF, including all databases.

13. Members have the right to vote in annual elections to select the membership of the steering committee. They also have the right to postulate as candidates for membership of the CESF steering committee.
